QC Natural Area Guardians
Interstate RC&D has assisted the Rock Island County SWCD form a sub-committee that is a not-for-profit committee to preserve and manage natural areas in the greater Quad City Area. This sub-committee is the Quad Cities Natural Area Guardians (NAGS). This committee has formed bylaws and an annual plan of work.
Who are the Natural Area Guardians? A group of people who share a common interest and commitment to the environment. It is an organization under the Rock Island County SWCD, that is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of natural areas in the Quad City Area. Members are engaged in hands-on land stewardship, community outreach and education, and monitoring of wildlife and plant communities.
The QC NAGS mission is to:

Locate and inventory natural areas of regional or local significance.

Manage or restore natural areas in cooperation with organizations

Assist landowners in managing natural areas at the request or with the help of the landowner.

Obtain funding to purchase equipment for natural areas restoration.

Provide educational programs concerning natural areas and otherwise promote public awareness of natural areas and their preservation.

Conduct field trips to elevate the awareness of natural land preservation.

Preserve for future generations the remaining natural areas.

Re-establish native plant areas and restore degraded natural areas.
QC Natural Area Guardians Membership
Individuals become members after endorsing the purposes and programs of the organization, and upon the payment of membership dues. Members may attend meetings (which are held quarterly), are placed on the mailing list, and may vote after an initiation period of two months. Membership categories are as follows:
Active Membership $10 per year
Family Membership $15 per year
Patron Membership $50 per year
Life Membership $150 one time only
Charter Life Membership $100 (For 2007 Charter Life Only)
