Learn To Burn Workshop
Interstate RC&D conducted a Learn to Burn Workshop on April 5, 2000. Where participants we involved in a morning session where presentations we made on safety, equipment, weather, planning and other factors for a safe effective burn. The afternoon session was an actual prescribed burn which was conducted on a field enrolled in CRP and established to native prairie grasses and forbs.
Interstate RC&D wrote and was awarded a $2,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) Division of Forestry to conduct this workshop.
There were 50 participants who learned the proper and effective way to use fire as a management tool for their native prairies.
